Somerset County 4-H clubs conduct community donation drives

4-H Radio Control Car Club

Somerset County 4-H members have big hearts for helping the community. We are proud of the ways these clubs recently gave back to the community.

The 4-H Radio Control Car Club organized a "Souper Bowl" in which they collected canned goods and non-perishable items for the local food pantry.

Somerset County 4-H Junior Council, with help from the 4-H dog clubs, collected donations of blankets, animal carriers and food for the Somerset County Regional Animal Shelter. This concluded a month-long donation drive held by the Junior Council.

The On Target Archery Club collected 25 items for the local food bank during its Fun Shoot in February. 4-H shooting club members from eight counties participated in the annual event which featured non-traditional archery competitions like archery basketball and team balloon pops.

Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Somerset County will continue the food drive for the Somerset County Food Bank Network. There is a collection bin in the lobby of the Ted Blum 4-H Center at 310 Milltown Road, Bridgewater if anyone would like to donate. They are in specific need of canned meats and fish, canned beans, vegetables & fruit, rice, peanut butter & jelly, boxed shelf-stable milk, personal care items and diapers.
